EBA was founded in 1975 and ratified in 1979 under the law 32/1964. EBA is a non-governmental, non-for-profit organization that seeks to unify the efforts of private Egyptian interests in contributing to the productivity and efficient national economic and social development of Egypt. In order to carry out these duties, EBA had to be in the first place a lobbying power on behalf of the Egyptian business community to protect its interests and enhance the private sector existence

Presently, the Egyptian economy does not act under planned forces but rather under the free market forces. With all these privatization programs and the growing private sector share in the GDP together with the globalization process.

An urgent online meeting,of the Export Committee

EBA, headed by Eng. Ali Eissa, held an online meeting via Microsoft Teams. The meeting, organized by the Export Committee chaired by Dr. Walid Gamal El-Din, included Eng. Ali Abdel-Qader, First Vice Chairman, Eng. Ahmed Sobhy Mansour, Second Vice Chairman for Agricultural Exports, with the participation of Eng. Magd El-Din El-Manzlawy, Secretary General and Chairman of the Industry and Scientific Research Committee, and several heads of specialized committees, with a number of active and concerned EBA's members with the aim of Exchanging and reviewing perspectives to prepare a memorandum to the Governor of the Central Bank requesting the postponement of loan repayments for exporting companies without affecting the creditworthiness of clients, given the impact of current geopolitical events on the Egyptian economy.

Meeting with Libyan Businessmen Council

In the framework of strengthening the economic cooperation between the Egyptian and Libyan sides, EBA has held a meeting with Mr. Abdel Raouf Saeed Khamis, Vice Chairman of the Libyan Businessmen Council, in the presence of Mr. Hany Safarax, Board Member, and Dr. Hany Emam, General Manager of East West Company, to discuss ways to activate this cooperation. It was agreed on the importance of initiating a preliminary event as a first step, to be followed by preparations for organizing an expanded exhibition in Tripoli in October, which would contribute to opening new horizons for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Hearing session in the Egyptian House of Representatives

The EBA participated in a hearing in the House of Representatives chaired by Eng. Ahmed Bahaa Shalaby, Chairman of the Industry Committee in the Egyptian House of Representatives, in the presence of the Minister of Finance, and in the presence of Eng.Magd El-Din Al-Manzalawy, Secretary General and Chairman of the Industry and Scientific Research Committee,Mr.Ahmed Mounir Ezz El-Din, Vice Chairman of the Industry and Scientific Research Committee, Dr. Mohamed Youssef, Executive Director, representatives of the Central Bank of Egypt, representatives of the Ministry of Industry, the Federation of Industries, the Small and Medium Enterprises Investors Association, and the Investors Association, to discuss It also reviewed the fiscal and monetary policies supporting the industrial sector and the repercussions of the current geopolitical situation and their impact on the industrial sector.

There are three types of membership: corporate, original and associate. The membership list consists of carefully chosen number of prominent businessmen in Egypt who occupy leading and decision making positions in the business community. The membership covers a wide range of economic activities.

Original Member

Is the member who applied for membership and fulfilled all the conditions and is accepted by EBA board. The original member has the right to attend the General assembly meeting and to nominate himself to be a member in EBA’s board.

The associate member is associated to an original member, he enjoys all the benefits and rights given to the Original member except for the right of attending the General Assembly Meeting and to nominate himself to be a board member.
